The Great Gatsby is one of the great classics of twentieth-century literature.
Hello Readers!
Today, I am reviewing The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. It is probably one of the best known novels that were assigned to be read in school. It has had many film adaptations. I have seen most of them but they are nothing compared to the book. Any quotes that may appear below are from the text and are not my words.
Decadence. Betrayal. Passion. Heartbreak. Excess. Longing. Tragedy. This book takes you through those themes and more. It is so incredibly written. It gives you this glimpse of how "The Other Half" live. The parties are constant. The drinks are overflowing. The music envelopes you like the wind. Jay Gatsby. Who is this man and what brings him here? You feel drawn to him perhaps out of sheer curiosity.
I am not one that usually shares quotes because I do not want to take anything from the reader. I hate spoilers and feel that too many people give away the best parts of the books and it tends to make me hesitant to read them. There were many quotes in here that I could share but alas I will but leave you with just one.
“His heart beat faster and faster as Daisy’s white face came up to his own. He knew that when he kissed this girl, and forever wed his unutterable visions to her perishable breath, his mind would never romp again like the mind of God. So he waited, listening for a moment longer to the tuning fork that had been struck upon a star. Then he kissed her. At his lips’ touch she blossomed like a flower and the incarnation was complete.”
One man's quest to find himself where his past and present crash together possibly upending a future. I am assigning this book Five Blue Books because I cannot possibly convey to you how wonderful it truly is. I would highly recommend it.
