Description: How well do you really know your best friend?

Kat Grant and Alice Campbell have a friendship forged in shared confidences and long lunches lubricated by expensive wine. Though they’re very different women—the artsy socialite and the struggling suburbanite—they’re each other’s rocks. But even rocks crumble under pressure. Like when Kat’s financier husband, Howard, plunges to his death from the second-floor balcony of their South Florida mansion.

Howard was a jerk, a drunk, a bully and, police say, a murder victim. The questions begin piling up. Like why Kat has suddenly gone dark: no calls, no texts and no chance her wealthy family will let Alice see her. Why investigators are looking so hard in Alice’s direction. Who stands to get hurt next. And who is the cool liar—the masterful manipulator behind it all.

Hello Readers.

Wow! Just wow! I love a good mystery and I was definitely not disappointed with this one. The premise was fantastic. The characters were strong and interacted well. They were relatable and likeable. The scenarios were well thought out and were presented smoothly. Just when I thought that I had it totally figured out, I was thrown for a loop. Not many books do that for me so this was a very pleasant surprise.

I am rating this book Five Blue Books because it had me on the edge of my seat on more than one occasion. It was well written and I will be looking more into this author. Highly recommend!

Nate, the criminal, is already on probation for dealing.

And Simon, the outcast, is the creator of Bayview High’s notorious gossip app.

Only, Simon never makes it out of that classroom. Before the end of detention Simon's dead. And according to investigators, his death wasn’t an accident. On Monday, he died. But on Tuesday, he’d planned to post juicy reveals about all four of his high-profile classmates, which makes all four of them suspects in his murder. Or are they the perfect patsies for a killer who’s still on the loose?

Everyone has secrets, right? What really matters is how far you would go to protect them.

Hello Readers.

I ordered a copy of this book after it was recommended to me. I thought that I would give it a chance. It looked like it had promise. I could not stop reading this book! I had to stop because life but I thought about it while I was not reading it. Kept me on my toes. Found myself trying to guess the ending. Some mysteries have a way of exposing their secrets early on. This book was full of little breadcrumbs to lead us through the story but did not give too much away.

I am rating this book Five Blue Books because it was a geniunely great read. Strong story, likeable characters, relatable, and surprising. It is one that I will be reading again. Will be looking into other works by this author. I strongly recommend it.

Description: High in the Hollywood Hills, writer Lady Daniels has decided to take a break from her husband. Left alone with her children, she’s going to need a hand taking care of her young son if she’s ever going to finish her memoir. In response to a Craigslist ad, S arrives, a magnetic young artist who will live in the secluded guest house out back, care for Lady’s toddler, Devin, and keep a watchful eye on her older, teenage son, Seth. S performs her day job beautifully, quickly drawing the entire family into her orbit, and becoming a confidante for Lady.

But in the heat of the summer, S’s connection to Lady’s older son takes a disturbing, and possibly destructive, turn. And as Lady and S move closer to one another, the glossy veneer of Lady’s privileged life begins to crack, threatening to expose old secrets that she has been keeping from her family. Meanwhile, S is protecting secrets of her own, about her real motivation for taking the job. S and Lady are both playing a careful game, and every move they make endangers the things they hold most dear.

Darkly comic, twisty and tense, this mesmerizing new novel defies expectation and proves Edan Lepucki to be one of the most talented and exciting voices of her generation.

Hello Readers.

I was optimistic when I read the description of this book. It looked fantastic and I really enjoyed the proposed concept and could not wait to read it. I started almost immediately. I am usually a fast reader. People comment on it all the time. This book took me a while to read. I was right about the concept. A really good premise. The problem I found with the book was definitely not the concept. It was very well executed. The problem I had was with the characters. I hated them. This is not something that I say often. I truly could not stand the lack of character growth. I wanted to reach into the book and throat punch the main characters.

I am rating this book a very generous Three Orange Books because it was well written and I can see how some people may enjoy it but I did not find it to be a pleasurable read.  If I rated it solely on the characters, it would be lower. I highly doubt that I will recommend this book.
